Verdict 2009: The Story of Two Old Men

One couldn’t make it even after all his hard labour that even the young ones in the ruling may envy. As per report, he had been attending five campaign rallies every day. He, already at 81, will perhaps not be able to do that anymore in this life.
The other man, younger by few years will make it to the highest chair for the second term without any labour of his own. He is the face of the dynastic family. He hardly labored campaigning. He didn’t fight any election. And the family did everything possible within their means to make their party win so that the old man can keep the seat warm for some more time when the young man of the first family will really get into it. One great quality of this man has been his loyalty with certainly unquestionable integrity. Perhaps this is one more example where the only karma has not succeeded; destiny has played a big role in the race of the chair.
But for the country and its people, I expect that the old man getting into the chair again must keep his promise made during the campaign to put the economy of the country on the track for getting into the 8-9% GDP growth rate in the first 100 days. With no leftists pull now and the clear mandate, the old man will have to prove that he can get fast on execution, be it the reforms in education sector, or the execution of power projects and road construction or other infrastructure investments. He can easily involve the young man of the first family in the task.
The country will also expect from him a commitment and transparency about issue of black money stashed in banks of tax havens. Will the young man help him in taking the country ahead with a speed that China does?
