Sex, Society, and Media

Why is the word, ’sex’ becoming so popular? What can be the intention of media in popularizing it? Is this the selling point?
I was shocked to see a headline on the front page in Sunday Times of India, New Delhi. It runs as ‘”After sex sting, Tiwari ejects prematurely“. Can there be any headline as sexier as this? ND Tiwari is very senior politician in eighties from Sonia’s Congress Party.
I would not have known about Ruchika story and how the police boss gets going even after doing the heinous most crime, if I would not have read Vir Sanghvi’s column in Sunday Hindustan Times. Chidambaram who is trying to restructure the police organization for fighting terror must give equal or perhaps greater priority to finding a way out for such a behavior of the police department where the whole police department start using all devious means to save its boss’ crime. It can stop only with exemplary punishment and making the person a social out caste.
Vir Sanghvi’s story of Ruchika is shocking. How can any middle class parent in India think of bringing up a girl child with ambition? Is Rathore not worse than Ravana? How do so many of the Chief Ministers become deaf and dumb? And what are the all educated and respected peers of the Administrative services doing? Should they all not consider themselves guilty of the crime committed by Rathore? And ultimately why should the judiciary take nineteen long years to pass a sordid judgment?
Unfortunately, our society permits Rathores to live with honour in it? And who knows very soon he will be the chief guest in some prize giving ceremonies giving prizes to Ruchika-like girls?
I wonder why the media tries to confuse the public by publishing all sorts of stories as it did in case of Arushi case.
Will India keep on watching silly reality shows such as Big Boss and equally ugly winners allow Rathores raping Ruchikas?
And I have questions too that I expect to be answered in affirmative by those concerned for a solution for the acts of these devils in society.
Can the right-conscious empowered ladies of the localities where Rathores live or wherever they shift, make their living miserable till they beg sincere apologies in public and compensate the victim or victim’s family sufficiently? Can the right-minded males and kids of the families join the endeavour of the ladies? Can the adult children of Rathores be bold and brave enough to leave them for causing mental humiliation?
I know I am asking a little too much. But it has happened in many places even with illiterate women.
No government can be of much help.
