Politics and Ethics

For sometime I am seeing an ad by Congress Party for voting back Congress in Gujarat. I have my own reasons for disliking Modi. The ad raises some questions about the ethics. But why should the facts be distorted? Should not Election Commission play a role if such materials are used in ads?
The ad talks of the suicides of the farmers, as the traders are not paying the right price for the farmer’s produce. I find it unethical as according to media reports, the most of the suicide cases reported are from Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and for that matter from even Punjab. How can Congress talk of such wrong information expecting the people who are the audiences, to digest it? Should some agencies or regulators not object it? Should not the TV channels that provide the news of suicide so vocally and cover with all sorts of special reports look into such ad before it airs it? I stand correction if my observation is wrong?
Another similar unethical news comes from Karnataka. It relates to a person who happens to be a former Prime Minister of India. One of his sons against his wishes managed a defection in the political party of his father and got into alliance with BJP to become the chief minister even though he has hardly few legislators, but with an understanding that after six month he would hand over the chair to a candidate of BJP. This is a new system of sharing power. Mayawati got caught in similar dilemma once. A similar mode of power sharing was agreed in J&K.
Today, the chief minister of Karnataka has announced his decision to give up the chair as agreed in favour of BJP and would step down on October 3 as per the power-sharing accord with ally BJP. But his father who happens to head the party doesn’t want that to happen. He can go to any extent to keep the chair within his direct or indirect control. JD (S) chief HD Deve Gowda hinted that a smooth transfer of power to the BJP might not take place as planned on October 3. Perhaps this is the way politicians work, and so are branded as crooks.
