Why can’t Indian Politicians be Magnanimous?

Nitish Kumar’s Vikash Yatra really excited me. It is a great way to reach to the people of all the regions of the state. It can be learning for the politicians and bureaucrats if honestly executed. It can make the common people reach the highest in administration. However, it requires certain discipline and maturity among the people. Unfortunately, I don’t think the people are still ready to take the maximum advantage out of this endeavour of Nitish. But it is certainly a good move. As I have opined earlier, the officers of Bihar at district and block level must follow Nitish Kumar, reach to the people and become people friendly.
As usual the opposition considers this as election gimmick. The opposition can’t wait for the election or direct its resources to work on some parallel projects of interest to the people, even as small but useful as providing volunteers on many occasions such as one in Sonepur cattle fair. Unfortunately, the people of Bihar must learn to distinguish between their real well-wishers and those who oppose any move of the ruling party just for making their presence felt by organizing protests and rallies. Who would have behind the problems created at the first ever village camp in Nitish’s Vikash Yatra?
I am sure all the strikes in Bihar are politically initiated and totally unwanted in this critical time of economic slowdown. The government workers and leaders must think over if they deserve what they desire. Will they honestly write down for their own shake what has been their contribution and judge for themselves their demands? This is certainly not the time to strike for any responsible nation. They should take lessons from the recent strikes by oilmen of PSUs and transporters. Why can’t the people stop taking the route dictated by the useless union leaders with vested interests and with support of opposition political parties?
Bihar trio (Nitish, Lalu, and Paswan) could have pulled together their capacity to make Bihar prosperous and people happy by having even a minimal of magnanimity. Unfortunately, the two important states of North, Bihar and UP and its people are falling in all aspects behind other states of the country only because of its politicians. But I blame it more on the people of the states who still show their faith in such divisive persons. Recent desertion of Kalyan Singh from BJP, selfish moves of Mulayam to join hands with Congress maneuvered by Amar Singh, crossing over of Akhilesh Das of Congress to Mayawati camp are of poorest standard even in politics, more so as it makes the people of the state suffer. Why can’t the people be with the two national parties? Why can’t some real capable men join politics in these states? Why can’t the professional social workers with great track records take the challenge to lead?
But even in other northern states, the things are no better. Can’t an old man like Shekhawat on his own retire from politics instead of embarrassing his own party that he served for the whole life? And how can anyone digest the way a chief minister of the most prosperous state of the country selects his own son as deputy chief minister? Is the state and the party so sort of talents? How can the politicians that are so selfish get tolerated by the people?
A great awakening is the need of hour. Can our education breed the right leaders?
But how long the voters keep on allowing these outdated politicians exploit their weaknesses?
