Another reservation: Will It Make India Different?

Both Yadavs will get a rebuff this time.
The main opposition party will support the women reservation that the ruling party is going to move in Lok Sabha on Monday. Many others political parties such as BJD, AIDMK, and even JD (U) with a Yadav as head may support the bill.
With President Pratibha Patil, Sonia Gandhi, Meira Kumar, Mamta Banerji , Brinda Karat, and Sushma Swaraj, Indian political scenario is different today. UPA-II is not having Lalu, Mulayam and Ram Vilash to oppose.
But what is the logic behind the reservation of 33% and why not higher? Will it be increased at later stage after some Next Gen activists again ask for it?
But what must be the expected advantages? It will certainly give prestige to a nation that has the maximum number of illiterate women in the world, where women are burnt even today for dowry, and when female child is killed much before she can breathe on the mother earth.
And unfortunately, the women themselves may be the main factors behind the illiteracy, dowry deaths and death of girl child.
I remember with Indira Gandhi as Prime Minister of the country, the women even in rural India got emboldened and felt empowered for the first time. I saw that while travelling in the remote areas of Bihar. But mare education doesn’t change the mindset that one gets from the family and the society in which one lives.
Women are behind the perpetuation of many superstitions. Women are more vulnerable to become the followers of the babas who are becoming famous these days. Will the bill change the society in great way?
Let us look at the TV soap shows or serials of all the entertainment channels. One can see how women are being portrayed. Ashok, my cousin has coined a new term ‘Goondi’, and one can find one or more Goondi in every serial.
At one time I wished to employ women in some departments such as HR and engineering. I thought they will be efficient and caring, and that will make even the male employees a little more polished in communication. However, I have found hardly any difference at actual work. I find the women in banks where they are in majority equally irresponsible and crude in dealing with the customers, even a senior citizen of my age.
And let me blame the women folks as the main reasons behind the breaking of joint family. Can they deny? Perhaps, women can contribute better only with value based universalization of higher education.
Let the women reservation bill is followed with a single mission to attain universal education, not literacy among at least the women in next ten years, if not earlier. Will the increased number of MPs make it happen?
