Between Shame and Pride: Two Speaking Photographs

Most of you might have seen these photographs. Once you know the details of the content, you may get ashamed about one. But for the other you may get a feeling of real pride.
I had seen the garland on TV news channels and I was one among those who got awed with its size and amazed with the beauty created by the makers. I don’t know about others but I thought it to be made of exotic flowers sourced from foreign countries that made it so costly. However, the truth was different. As reported, ‘the money garland took a whole week to make and 12 hours to take apart. Sixteen people toiled the whole evening and night yesterday extricating the Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes in complete secrecy and with painstaking care to avoid damaging the notes.’Parliamentarians got the Lok Sabha adjourned. Mayawati hardly bothers.
Surprisingly, the cash will be deposited in bank and the bank will accept it without any question. Unfortunately, the same bank will refuse to accept so much of cash in one’s account. IT can’t take any action. The government at centre may not like to annoy her after the quit notice of Lalu and Mulayam from the UPA fold. As it seems, the country and countrymen today hardly bother about these incidents that appear pretty regularly in media. Judiciary will hardly notice it.
I consider Mayawati a mentally sick with a lot of inferiority complex. She wishes to be goddess or queen of the millions of dalits and deprived. Her lust of diamonds, real estates and money is part of that. Many of the ‘Guru Mothers’ and male politicians in India also would have accumulated similar wealth. But they are either afraid or humble (?) enough in not showing that. I don’t know how Mayawati will see her inning ending.
Surprisingly, a swarm of honey bees made a surprise appearance, pretty visible on the small screen at the BSP rally, where Mayawati was speaking. Were they protesting or singing in their own way?
I praise her development drives such as Ganga and Yamuna Expressway, if she can get it completed before the end of her inning.
I wish she would have focused and put this money in building special schools and creating a condition where everyone of the deprived class of the state if not of the country starts getting good education.

But I am sure that everyone will take pride in another photograph of a project. Images of the project are just exhilarating with the potential of development of the small sleepy town. Kushinagar is set for one of the biggest Buddha statues in the world, a 500-ft structure that would dwarf the Taj Mahal and the Bamiyan carvings.
An engineering marvel, the statue would sustain itself more on natural light and will be located in 750 acres of land to be developed as attractive pilgrimage destination at a total cost of $195 million. The Maitreya Trust project document contains plans to form a Kushinagar Special Development Area that would offer healthcare and educational services to the people of the town
I wish Mayawati would have created her elephant park of Lucknow in some town of UP that could have brought the place in prominence and would have boosted the local economy.
PS: Could not BabaAmbedkar and even Ms Mayawati’s mentor, late Kansi Ram have managed to collect the money the way Mayawati is doing it? Why Ambedkar is so well known for his integrity and honesty and his towering intellect and why can’t that be the example for Mayawati and her follower? Do the followers of Mayawati consider her taller than the two? Even Ms Mayawati’s mentor, the late Shri Kanshi Ram, conducted him in highly dignified manner. Why does this lady find it necessary to adopt such openly fascist and unpleasant methods to boost her image, power and wealth? In what way does this in-your-face style of Ms Mayawati empower India’s Dalits? Is not it self-damaging? How long her people allow her to accumulate wealth to become Nizam?
