Sunday and Peace

Two Slokas that give me peace:

Om Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah
Sarve Santoo Niraamayaah
Sarve Bhadraani Pashyantu
Maa - kaschit dukha- bhak bhavet
Om Shaantih!…. Shaantih!… Shaantih!

May all be happy;
May all be healthy;
May all see auspiciousness;
May none suffer.
Om…..Peace!…….Peace!……

Om Asato maa Sadgamaya
Tamaso maa Jyotirgamaya
Mrityormaa Amritam gamaya.
Om… Shaantih… Shaantih… Shaantih.

Om! Lead (us)
From untruth to Truth,
From darkness to Light,
From death to Immortality.

Om… Peace….Peace…Peace

As I think, there can not be a better and more universally applicable prayer than these two above. If we think so, we can memorise and repeat whenever we get into some tension.

A food of thought

For many years, I have some views about our Trideva- Brahma. Vishnu and Mahesh. I strongly believe them as unprecedented manifestations of assimilation of three cultures that made our society. Brahama represented the cults of hermits, saints, mentally superior Brahmans. They were smaller in numbers but they provided the leadership in understanding the ultimate Braham through Vedas and then Vedanta.. Vishnu got integrated in the set up from the Dravidian culture which was more in number, a little darker in complexion, and stronger in strength. But the society also got many good things of the culture from the tribes who were the original inhabitants. Mahesh orShiva basically represented tribal populations. These Trideva present the combined culture of our ancient country that got integrated in one over many years of history of India. This is entirely my conviction. Many may have different opinions, but I have this interpretation. And I may be right to a great extent.
